About Us

The story begins in the bustling streets of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where the aroma of fresh-roasted coffee was more than a daily encounter,it was an awakening. My family came to Ethiopia from Rwanda in the 1980s, carrying cherished memories of Rwanda’s rolling hills and a deep appreciation for the hard work of coffee-growing communities.

Although tea was a family favorite in Rwanda, Ethiopia’s rich coffee culture quickly became part of our lives through traditional Buna coffee ceremonies. These gatherings celebrated gratitude, connection, and community, inspiring a lifelong passion for coffee and the stories behind every cup.

My early days were spent in local coffeehouses, learning the art and care behind exceptional coffee. After moving to the United States for college, I missed the authentic flavors of East Africa. Unable to find coffee that matched those memories, I began bringing beans from small Ethiopian villages and roasting them at home for friends and family.

Happy Beans Roaster was born from a desire to share those authentic flavors with others. Today, every bean we roast in Framingham reflects our commitment to quality, ethical sourcing, and craftsmanship. From East African highlands to American coffee tables, our mission remains the same: to create meaningful connections through extraordinary coffee.
